As the subject states, I had an old Sky account a few years ago, left, and last year bought a new package.
It appears the old account is still registered in some way, because in My Details in my account, I can see the 'We've found an old inactive account linked to your Sky iD' message, above the blue button to Unlink it. But when I click that button, nothing happens. I've tried this countless times now.
In various parts of my account (such as Manage My Devices), I am greeted with the message that my account has closed, 'sorry to see you go' etc, alongside the old account number.
All the Virtual Assistant does is direct me to the My Settings unlink button (described above, not working).
Any help much appreciated.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAs you left Sky and then returned after being away for 24 months or more then your account will have been closed so you will need to set up a new Sky ID to use.
If you want to use the same email address then you need to first remove it from the old account first so log into the old account here:
https://www.sky.com/myaccount/my-details
Then delete the email address by providing another one and logout of this account, this will then free it up to use when setting up your new Sky ID:

What if I left Sky 9 months ago and cannot unlink my account. Have tried changing email address and signing out, using a new email address etc. But it still has linked to my old account! Help please!

If you left 9 months ago and then returned then you should use the same account as before. Or have you returned as a new customer in that case you need to setup a new account to use.
