First direct debit not taken but showing as paid

I’ve got a new Sky Mobile account with an iPhone 17 and Apple Watch loan. My first bill shows as “paid” with a Direct Debit payment received on 24 November, but no money has left my Barclays account at all. Barclays confirm no past, pending or future Sky payments. Sky insist the payment was received.  I’m worried about being marked late or affecting my credit, but it seems Sky’s system has incorrectly marked the bill as paid before the bank actually collected it.

 

Has anyone else had Sky’s system show a DD as “paid” when the bank hasn’t taken the money yet, and how was it resolved?

Plenty have and usually it because it is in the process of being taken so I would check again tomorrow to see if it has left your Barclays account.

Yup, Sky's billing system can be deceptive.

 

Sometimes the status will say 'overdue' when it's in the process of being collected.  (And many seem to want to pay manually which doesn't turn out the way they intended)

 

As above, check tomorrow - it will probably be debited.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers
