Ex partner taking out sky account not paying and im recieving debt letters

My husbands ex partner has taken out a sky contract and not paid they have been split up since 2006 and this was taken out 2017 she hasnt paid it were now receiving bayliffs letters for the amount she owes

@Jac64  Who's the named account holder your husband or the ex as only that person is liable for the account

If the account was in her name and the bailiffs letters are addressed to her, iyou and your husband need not be concerned. It's her responsibility.

If these letters are in the ex partners name then she is responsible for the debt and not your husband.

@Jac64  Unless @caesarome and @Mark39 can advise further I would report this in the first instance to the relevant authorities as fraudulent activity if she as deliberately put the account in his name

The issue @Jac64 might have is proving it was taken our fraudulently especially if it was setup online.

@Superuser  i thought it would be fraud tbh iv been on the phonr to the bayliffes they said nothing they can do

@Jac64 As a first step your husband should probably report it to the Police. I'd suggest your,husband contacts Sky and if they can't help, then getting professional advice for example from Citizens Advice, on how to deal with the bailiffs engagement.
