I had an email from Sky yesterday and I don't know if it's genuine or not.. I'd cancellled my BT landline and the email from Sky says my Sky broadband service will end on the exact same date as my BT landline is disconnected.. I need to keep my broadband service with Sky but don't need my BT landline anymore
Could this be correct, I thought they were entirrely separate sevices. The phone number in the email is
03303 323 033 is this a genuine number for Sky?

Find out moreUnless you have a separate fibre optic cable to your home, broadband is delivered via your phone line, so if you cancel your phone service, there's no way for your broadband service to be delivered and it's cancelled at the same time. It's explained in your Sky terms and conditions. The likelihood is, therefore, thay the number is genuine. But you can call the standard number anyway, if you wish. You can find it via the 'need more help' dropdown at the bottom of this page: https://www.sky.com/help

Thank you for your reply Mark, I had no idea. I have cancelled the cancellation of my BT phone line and they are giving me a call back to help reduce my bill as I only make a few phonecalls per quarter. Now I need to stop the cancellation of my broadband service but it's not easy getting to speak to anybody in person at Sky.

It's now quite unusual to have broadband from one company and line rental / voice calls from a different one. Any current broadband subscription would typically include both 'line rental' (almost an obsolete concept these days) and at least a PAYG voice call service
