Does SKY treat its customers fairly?

According to SKY I am a "valued platinum member", because I been with them for 13 years, but to renew my TV package and broadband I am not getting a deal which is reasonable. The worth part is that the new customers are offered much better deals.

What is the point being a valued customer?

At the end I had to cancel my TV essential package due to its charge.

What is your experience?

Thanks.

@meat112 very few companies give extra discounts to loyal customers indeed my experience you get better prices if you shop around. Given companies are in business to make money ie charge me as much as I am willing to pay I dont consider it unfair its just business.

Sky are in the process of increasing prices and we should each get a notification of the new broadband prices from April in March which will give 4 weeks to switch broadband isp without penalty even if in contract. Therefore every year I check competitors prices to see if I want to stay with Sky which takes roughly 5 minutes using a site like Uswitch. The freedom to move does not apply to TV contracts.

@meat112

And your VIP status has never been about incorporating discounts. Don't forget nearly all customers are VIP members to one level or another.

If you don't think the charge is fair then leave (as you have)...

Attracting new customers is much harder than keeping existing ones.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Shouldn't be that way though. Long term customers of 20-30 years should be valued highly by companies. That's loyalty to them despite everything.

Not just Sky guilty of this approach though. It's a failing of many big companies.

Only if they're profitable. That's the reality.
