Do we always have to change suppliers at end of contract to get a fair deal??
I just do not understand why Sky really isnt interested in being competitive. I am about to jump to BT (again) because they are a lot cheaper than Sky for pretty much the same thing. Why do we have to go through this faff - why are they happy to see us go??

Most, if not all providers do this now. From recent posts on here it does seem that decent deals are increasingly hard to find. If you choose to leave the same will happen at the end of your discounted deal with whoever you go with. Once you've been away for 18 months you'll be able to rejoin Sky and benefit from new customer discounts.

Because there is still a high percentage of customer who don't keep on top of minimum terms expiring and this revert to paying full list price for services, therefore making it profitable for the companies to act in this way.
It's a standard method of working for most essential utiliy based companies (energy companies do the same thing, your fix deal ends so you end up on their standard variable rate tariff or indeed the price cap whichever is applicable at the time).
