Direct Debit taken before activation

My first direct debit for my Sky package has been taken 10 days before my scheduled activation. I thought it would be activated first before I paid?

The activation dates will vary depending on the service.

For Sky Glass/Stream the activation date is either the date you plug it in and set it up or 14 days after delivery date (if you can just kept it in the box since delivery).

Activation date for broadband would be the date your service goes live. And for Sky Q the day the service is installed and the viewing card is therefore activated.

Initially ordering charges e.g the £39.95 cost for a stream puck is charged on the day you make the purchase.
