Hi. I have now received a second letter from Moriarty Law stating that a debt of £173.00 was assigned by Sky PLC to JC International Acquisition LLC. This letter is now also threatening court proceedings and has said this could increase my debt to £271.84.
I have not been a Sky customer before. There is an account number on the letter which I have never been assigned by any service. The letter also spells my name wrong, my prefix is incorrect, my email address is wrong, and DOB is also incorrect.
The letter states to get in touch with the original business if this is incorrect - but Sky is impossible to get in touch with. I have tried many numbers but cannot get through unless I'm a customer. I have also tried Facebook live chat but to no avail.
I spoke with Moriarty Law on the phone a few weeks ago after recieving the first letter and they said they would pause it for now. They read back the email they have on their system and it was incorrect. I refused to give them my correct details as I did not want them to have them as it all feels very shady.
Nevertheless I am very stressed about this and upset with both the debt collector and SKY PLC.
How can I get in touch with someone from Sky and go about resolving/shutting this down? This is causing me a lot of stress now.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@SamanthaAlison1 given the nature of the issue, I'd strongly suggest putting it in old-fashioned writing to Sky and sending it by recorded/special delivery.
In reality, I doubt the debt collectors will be able to pin it on you given the inaccuracies in the data they hold. Seems to me they've tried to track down the original debtor and tracked a similar name to your address.

@Mark39 Thank you for answering this - I think that might be my best course of action in this case. Something has definitely gone wrong somewhere!
Thank you for giving me some reassurance!
