Customer for 21 years - is it worth staying?

Is there any benefit in long- term Sky loyalty?

I renewed with Sky two years ago for the works - premium tv, sport, mobile, broadband.

The moment I'm out of contract my bill jumped £30.

My online renewal quote was actually higher than my out of contract quote!!!!

I tried calling,  it this only brought it down about £20 per month. I am still paying a fortune!

I pointed out that all the 'special' prices they offered were higher than the new customer prices and that I'd been with Sky 21 years - a valued diamond customer supposedly.

But they said that the offers are just for new customers.

So why would I stay? Why not leave to be a new customer at BT and then come back in two years to be a new customer at Sky?

Is there anything at all I am losing for leaving and not having my 'diamond' status?!!!!

Anyone else been around this long?!

@Kt1991 My honest opinion is that when it comes toTV and broadband providers there is very little benefit in remaining a loyal customer, you will inevitably end up getting fewer and smaller discounts.

I see the VIP program as just a marketing gimmick, sure you get the odd decent offer or reward, but most i expect would prefer beter discount offers for long time custom rather than free movies or tickets to events.

Hi @Kt1991   With only 21 years you are a newbie. Since 1989 here. Unfortunately nothing matches Sky Q for me, so I'm happy to pay the loyalty tax.

Also Diamond - just negotiated 40% off list.  So it can be done...

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

21 years at this address - longer before!!!

I'm weighing up functionality of Sky Q and how long this will last. I assume they'll want us all on glass in the end.

Is there a tactic/number  I should use? I have tried BT as a threat!

@Kt1991 Not necessarily Glass, but yes, streaming is the way all TV will soon operate in the UK., and quite likely will get you cheaper prices from Sky.

2029 seems a likely end of service year: that would be four decades after Sky started broadcasting on satellite, and matches the current contract with SES.

Yes Ive been with Sky for 25 plus years !!!!. I hate the renegotiation dance its a real pain. Why oh why do new customers always seem to get the best deals. No wonder there are so many people out there  in pubs trying to sell you dodgy firesticks. I personally would never use one as I prefer a good quality picture and a gauranteed service. (plus its illegal). Its also very hard now discussing anything with Sky advisors as many have very very stong Indian accents. They are very polite but tend not to be good listeners and talk at you. I really think Sky will start to lose many customers soon as I priced up the cost of Netflix, Amamzon Prime, Disney plus and Apple TV. The cost of all 4 of these streaming services together is much cheaper than Sky
