Currently with Sky TV only and interested in Sky Broadband Basics and not sure how
Hello all,
I'm currently with Sky and I only have Sky TV. My current Broadband provider is Vodafone and they provide me a free of charge battery pack as I live with a disabled person and they can't use a mobile phone. The battery pack enables the router to work and phone if there is a loss of electricity.
Does sky provide a power pack?
I'm interested in the Social Tarrif, but not sure how to go about it:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-social-tariff
In this article, it states, If you don't already have Sky Broadband, get in touch with us. However, I am not sure how to get in contact with Sky to discuss this. Will Sky make me pay for a full service broadband and then switch to this reduced package?

@skyisblue
This link explains the process if you’re eligible for Sky Broadband Basics.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-social-tariff
The Sky account holder needs to be claiming:~
Universal Credit (UC)
Pension Credit (PC)
Income-based Employment Support Allowance (I-ESA)
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (I-JSA)
Income Support (IS)
These are the only qualifying benefits and in order for Sky to carry out checks with DWP they will need your N.I. number.
Sky Broadband Basics costs £20 a month for 24 months. It includes:
Full Fibre: Sky Full Fibre 75 or 150; or
Part Fibre: Sky Broadband Superfast 35 or 80; or
Copper: Sky Broadband Essential Plus, if fibre broadband isn’t available where you live.
and; the Sky Talk Pay As You Go tariff (ie: all calls are chargeable).
Broadband Basics is only available to customers who already have Sky Broadband and to add the Sky Mobile offer, you’ll need to be taking Sky Broadband Basics, and:
a) Already have Sky Mobile and a 3GB data plan.
b) Or you can add a new 3GB data plan with Sky Mobile.
The linked Sky mobile deal is only for 12 months.
If you are eligible you’ll need to call Sky to join. There is no equivalent offer for TV. The broadband part of the social tariff now lasts for 24 months and then reverts to the full cost but if you’re still eligible you will then need to re-apply.

Ofcom expects ISPs to identify vulnerable customers and 'take appropriate steps'.
This requires providers to provide a minimum of one hour’s power resilience to consumers in the event of a power cut. If consumers need to use their landline to call the emergency services, this must be provided free of charge.
See, for example, this thread:
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2
