Cold call - savings on account
Has anyone had a genuine call from Sky on an 0800 number, offering to make savings on your account?
Just taken a call from an Imran on my landline offering exactly that. I find it unlikely after more than 20 years as a Sky customer that they'd ring me out of the blue offering to cut my bill (they usually email me to say it's going up).
I'm assuming this was a scam and ended the call straight away

Re: Cold call - savings on account
See this link as per Skys own website
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/received-call-from-08007613372
that's not to say the number can't be spoofed so if you're unsure you were correct in hanging up but as the link suggests - call Sky back.

The 0800 number that called you is for outbound calls only so you will have to call the normal Customer Services number.

Are you a Sky+HD customer and the call was offering an upgrade to Sky Q?
I got the same yesterday and was satisfied that it was from Sky following the security questions.
I declined the upgrade, making it clear I wasn't interested at this point.
** A tip when getting calls like this (from any company) is to get the security questions wrong. A genuine call would be able to tell you it was wrong, then you can give the correct answer

Re: Cold call - savings on account
Thanks for the tip! 👍
I'm a Sky Q customer - never got as far as what the "savings" might be.
Rang Custoner services just now - got through quickly. They verified I was called yesterday, but said any offers the Outbound Team would be able to offer (C/S don't know what that might have been) is only available via that Outbound Team. Looking at my account, the agent said he could recontract me, but as a result my bill would have gone up bu nearly £20 a month. Given I'm already paying £146 for services I'm not doing that. My current subscriptions is
- Signature
- Sports
- TNT
- Cinema
- HD (what a rip off that is)
- Multiscreen
- Ultrafast1
- Broadband Boost
My contract ends Feb 2025 - I'm very tempted to cancel next year after being a customer for 22 years as I'm fed up with the annual dance around trying to lower my bills every time they raise prices.

New/renewed contracts are now for 24 months. You perhaps need to call Sky in January and see what discounts they can offer then (when you're much near the end of your current deal).

Re: Cold call - savings on account
My 77 year old mum received one of these cold calls, and she was persuaded to get a multiscreen subscription for a discounted £5 a month. She only has one Television in her house, she thought it was additional new channels.
When I found out I was upset to say the least.
I phoned Sky, and after about 10 minutes of proving my mum was who she was, they said "ah never mind". I said I expected an apology. I was then told that they would listen back to the conversation. I said that's all well and good, but my mum has a 31 day cooling off period no matter what, so asked them to cancel it. They said they could do it in the next 24 hours as there were no teamleaders around.
I then got the usual, you have to return the box or you will get charged for it. No apology at all for how my elderly mum was treated.
Come on Sky, both my mum and I are Sky Diamond customers, this is not the service we are accustomed to.

In case you aren’t aware we are mainly fellow customers on here trying to help other customers and you’re not contacting Sky Customer Services by posting on the forum. The person you've tagged is a customer, not an employee - who is most likely regretting choosing that Community username.
Your Mum could submit a complaint if she chooses to

Re: Cold call - savings on account
I've just had exactly the same and was very suspicious but went through all the loops of asking them to prove who it was by confirming my details etc and checked number, checked this blog while they were on the phone. They did offer me a discount and I restructured my package but still don't understand why they contact loyal customers who've been with them around 20 years to "save them money ahead of prices rises"?! It could be just getting you to renew for another 2 years but wonder if this is ahead of them bringing out better deals in the near future?? Sky you need to explain this and reward loyal customers not confuse them with misleading and "suspicious"'sales calls!!
