Cinema trial ended no email confirmation

I got a new subscription in January, fibre internet installed and a new Sky TV package with Sky sports.

The engineer added a month free Sky cinema on my subscription, great.

Actually not that great.
Had a look through my e-mails, the trial confirmation e-mail didn't have an end date in it.
By the end of the free trial I never received an e-mail stating the free trial would end and I now have to pay up to the end of next month (27th of March) for something I don't want/don't use.

Why a full month? I wasn't able to cancel it today.

New bill doesn't come out yet till next week.
No offence, but the new service desk was not helpful at all.

As soon as my new subscription ends (stuck for 2 years) I will move somewhere else.

@IB77

There's no 'new' service desk. When cancelling these add-ons you have to give 31 days notice hence the charge.

Re: Cinema trial ended no email confirmation

Hi @IB77 I don't think it would be a trial, it's just a free month. If they described it as a trial then you might have some grounds for being missold.

Assuming you're on Sky Stream or Glasss, you would have been able to cancel it through the MySky app to give your 31 days notice, which is what your contract will have set out when you signed it. Again, if your contract doesn't say you need to give 31 days notice, you might have grounds to complain.

Unfortunately this sounds like a buyer-beware kind of scenario to me, where you perhaps didn't read the details.

Hi @IB77   Buyer beware free trials, they tend not to tell you that you must give 31 days of cancellation. If you only wanted it free for one month, then you should have given notice of cancellation on the same day you got it.

Re: Cinema trial ended no email confirmation

When I called Sky service desk years ago, I always used to get someone with a Scottisch accent.

Now every time I call I get an Indian accent. Which suggests to me the contact center has moved.
So as soon as the trial started, I had to ask to cancel straight away? That does not make sense at all.

Rubbish customer service.

Except I'm fairly sure that's exactly what the contract you signed would have said.

@IB77

That's correct. To not incur charges you'd need to give notice to cancel on the day it started.

Sky have call centres in a few different countries and all calls go through to the next available agent, no matter where they're based.

@MightyQuinn yes I know that now, bit crap to only find out afterwards.
For anyone else, be aware of these 'traps'.

Re: Cinema trial ended no email confirmation

I got the same free trial for sky sports and cinema free trial,after 4 weeks they said i would getan email to either sign up to either or cancel and it would run free for another 4 weeks then be cancelled,i got an email about the sky sports which i send back and have confirmation but not for the cinema,ive spent 45 mins on Monday trying to explain this getting passed to 4 different departments and still on my account,i was on tonight again for 40 minutes only to be told i need to give 30 days notice lol,i have an email from them when both started showing price and the 2 month deduction so basically free for 2 months but trying to explain this to someone who dosnt understand what im trying to explain is very annoying,ill not be renewing when my current contract is up been with sky over 10 years this be my last😡
