Cancelled contract in December still being asked to pay for a service I no longer have?

This is possibly pointless given the similar amount of complaints, but here goes....I cancelled our contract in December 12TH 2024.

I duly returned all the quipment and anticipated that the advance payment would end in January.  However I discovered that I did not cancel my direct debit  at the  time and when I did cancel it in May  having discovered that billing had continued, I got a demand from Sky for payment for a service I no longer have.

I cannot speak to any one, all call numbers ask for payment. Even their complaint line automatically demands payment and asks that when you are ready to pay  you can call back. I assume that only then will someone speak to you, if you are lucky.

I see that some people are being told that cancelling the contract does not include cancelling your payments?  What does the contract therefore stand for? At what point do Sky get to determine that you can stop paying for something that they have ceased to supply .

And .when do we get to have say in this business as all contact is very necessarily robotic tick boxes followed by pointless pressurised  admin

@MikeH8

How did you cancel your broadband subscription in December?

Did Sky send you an email acknowledging the cancellation?
