Broadband Bill is astronimical
Hi there
Wondering if anyone can help. My bill has recently gone from £75 to £125 when coming out of my broadband contract. I'd expect a slight hike but this is nearly 50% increase. I've tried to contact some in the UK to discus this however i dont seem to be getting anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I best off going to EE? I dont see why Sky make it so difficult for customers who have been loyal

@MickyB87
If your discounted minimum term has ended or its ending soon the best new discounts are still normally acquired by contacting Sky and negotiating or potentially amending your package which will require a new 24 month minimum term contract.
Significant discounts are harder to come by these days so if you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer is unlikely to be available when you call back. Also remember you’re not a new customer so don’t expect anything close to a new customer deal.
See this link…
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/change-your-package-2-t2#downgrade
If you decide it’s no longer value for money and you’re thinking of changing providers remember that in 18/24 months time you'll be in the same position with that company at which point you'll be able to return to Sky and benefit from the new customer discounts available at that particular time.

Do you mean you have unable to get through to talk to someone or when you do they will not offer you a new discount ?

Re: Broadband Bill is astronimical
Thanks for your swift reply. I just wonder why the discounts are difficult to come by these days and also why its harder to speak to someone in the UK? Every time i speak to someone they are trying to upgrade me to Sky Glass or adding more products, when all I want to do is go back to what i deamed was a fair price.
In the past Sky customer service was always really helpful but now, it seems as though they dont reward loyalty.

Both. I have been unable to speak to someone in the UK
When i speak to someone outside of the UK, they are more interested in upgrading me to Sky Glass. They did offer a discount which was laughable. I think it was £4 cheaper

Your other post has been removed as we've responded to this one. With regards to speaking to a UK based agent, all calls go through to the next available agent, wherever they may be based.

Re: Broadband Bill is astronimical
I appreciate that, but there should be an option to speak to a UK based agent directly. The tactic of sending calls abroad just result in difficult communication. The fella in Wales who i spoke to this time 2 years ago had probably the best customer service i've ever experienced.

There isn't. Most providers are the same.

If you polled every customer in the UK, they would say "there should be" Just because everyone else does it, doesnt mean it is right. How do we speak to someone in the Scotland office?

Unfortunately, what customers want doesn't necessarily make a difference, particularly as it's virtually an industry standard to offshore customer services in order to reduce costs. If a company decided to on-shore all their customer services operations it would cost that company a lot more money and would result in them not being able to be price competitive in the market.

Because Comcast Corporation stockholders would prefer their Sky Group division to actually be making money, particularly when it cost so much to acquire.
and also why its harder to speak to someone in the UK?
See above.
Every time i speak to someone they are trying to upgrade me to Sky Glass or adding more products, when all I want to do is go back to what i deamed was a fair price.
Which was presumably a hugely discounted one, so also see above.

My suggestion is to be loyal to your wallet/purse, and go with the cheapest or a cheaper provider.
If you would like UK based customer service & support then go with a smaller ISP like Andrews & Arnold, File Sanctuary, iDnet, Zen, Aquiss. However they will not be as cheap as major ISPs.
Comcast are in the business of making profit for their share holders, that's where their loyalty lies, hence having cheaper overseas customer support.
Now TV Sports + Entertainment + Cinema + Ultra Boost @ £34 pm (till April 2026)
1000/115 FTTP (Aquiss) to Zyxel DX3301
3 x Asus XT9s + + RT-AC58U V3 for WiFi (AP mode)
65" Samsung S92C OLED TV
C430 Samsung soundbar with subwoofer
