April price increase of over 11%... Really?

So although I've had no official communication from Sky yet, but looking at my predicted bills, from April it looks like my broaband is increasing by around 15% and TV package 10.4% meaning a total increase of jut under 12%.

Surly this can't be correct?

Certainly could be, the more packages you subscribe to and the better the discount you have the higher your overall percentage rise will likely be.

The key thing to remember is that its the list price that increases, so the less you pay for a particular service or pack due to having a good discount, the higher the percentage increase will work out to be.

I feel the way Sky add an increase on each part of your bill rather than the whole bill is a little underhanded to be honest.

Not at all.  You have multiple subscriptions and they each have a retail price which is revised.

So, a sports sub may increase more than a HD sub.  There isn't a general overall bill increase by a certain percentage.

Sky work out the weighed average increase across all subscribers as the headline rate.

But as you've found out your increase can differ.

when you do receive the communication it will outline any options to leave penalty free.  Bear in mind the new ofcom rules for new contracts which seem to have created certainty but ultimately higher prices.

I think Sky have lost sight of the fact that there's a cost of living crisis. When cuts are being made it is luxuries like Sky are prime for chopping, especially in this day and age of streaming services. Putting prices up so much will cost them dearly in terms of customer cancellations thus negating the price rises completely.

I myself will be a former customer come Sunday. I just can't afford it anymore and the retentions team were not able to bring it to a more realistic price for my budget. I'll miss certain things but I watch more things elsewhere these days. I'll miss the live F1 most but I can't justify paying so much just to watch the F1 live anymore.

The retentions team tried to say Sky VIP was worth being a subscriber but aside from the odd free movie I've never benefitted from anything they offer due to my location.
