Account Security

HI @Sky

I was on call to tech support who booked an engineer for a BB issue I have.

Some 10 minutes later I get a call from "SKY" saying I am having slow and erratic speed issues, was intinitally taken in but having watched too much ScamBaiters, I asked for the account name and when she could not give it, played along for the fun and wasted 15 minutes of their time.

My concern is how did they get hold of the number so quickly as only moved to SKY on Wednesday and it is a totally new number to us and not given out to anyone.

Given the sequence of events, it could very easily have fooled someone who was not familiar with **bleep** like these.

@Madhatter  Your not tagging sky by using @ sky as that is not a valid uder on the forum so they will never see your message, this is also a customer herlps customer forum,

Scammers will use spoofed numbers and is highly unlikley to be related to your call to Sky in the 1st place, scammers will use different company names in the hope they have the correct one.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

The most likely explanation is a complete coincidence- the scammers use sequential dialling.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own

Re: Account Security

They direct you here so thought it was their forum.

am not sure it was such a conincident that they claimed to be from SKY and I was a SKY customer.

I was with TT in the past when their indian employees stole and sold customer info.

That is one of the reasons now I never given actual DOB etc to companies that done need such invasive info.

Sky are the 2nd biggest by market share in uk so scammers have a 1 in 5 chance of getting a customer wit the spam calls

In ireland, we get those claiming speed issue claiming to be from eir
