Sound issue with the Sky Sports App

Good Afternoon.

When I'm connecting my Samsung phone with Samsung DeX to my TV with a HDMI to USB-C cable, when I open the sky sports app and try to watch videos or live tv, I do not have any sound and can't figure out why. Any other apps I have like Virgin Media Go for TNT SPORTS work fine with sound so that tells me it's an issue with the app itself.

Can someone please help?

Any troubleshooting steps or if it's a known problem with the sky sports app in relation to external devices and sound.

Dex is not supported by Skys apps, you need to use your phones internal screen

Hi Annie,

Dex works in terms of using it as a touch screen cursor so you can select videos and streams you want to watch.. it's just the sound issue I have not coming through my TV. I find it bizarre because all other apps I have for streaming like Virgin Media GO, they all work with no issues and with sound coming through my TV. The Sky Sports app is the only one that doesnt.

I've done some research and the reason is clear to me now why my sky sports app won't work permanently. I wish I would have known this when I first encountered the issue as I wouldn't have posted on here asking for help.

Hi Harry, did you ever receive a technical explanation as to why the sound doesn't come through on Dex or better still work out how to get it working?

@carchie86Yes I did find out. The sky sports app blocks dex for copyright purposes. It's so you can't watch Sky Sports on your mobile via your tv, aswell as screen recording. They want you to buy a sky sports tv package etc. The picture works fine but there isn't any sound and it's always been like it

If you type into Google.. why does the sky sports app not work with dex? and look for AI Overview.. it explains it.
