Sky Sports App F1 driver onboards not working

As this is a new season with new rules etc, I was looking forward to going onboard and listening to what was being said over team radio regarding charging etc.

I open the Sky Sports app, select the "Watch" section, then the red "Live F1" tile and the main live stream starts up ok - all good so far. However, as soon as I select one of the other streams underneath (e.g. Timing screen, or one of the onboards) I just get a black screen. Going back to the main feed at the top of the list then gives the same black screen. Only way to get any stream working again, is to exit and then press the red Live F1 tile again, which of course just gives me the main feed again.

I've tried this on 2 devices - same thing. on both. Not happy.

RichT39 I'm having the exact same issue. The only channel that works is the same footage I can see vis the TV so no onboard, no timing screens or driver tracker.

Its not an app issue as I've deleted the cache, deleted and redownloaded its a front end Sky issue.

I had this happen periodically during the 2025 season and Sky never sorted it but to start the new season with this 💩 epitomises Sky in general - useless.

Don't get me started on the 15-20 delay for the app footage meaning driver onboards in the race being nigh on useless as its not synced with the race feed on my TV.

I cant wait until F1 finally allows UK viewers to stream F1 direct from them rather than use this shower.

yet again the onboards for F1 on sky sports app is not working, keep getting a black screen, tried deleteing app and reinstalling it but that has not helped, We had the same problem last year too. Pay so much every month to sky and I`m getting fed up with having the same problem all the time. They say the problem has been fixed but it clearly hasn`t.

I have the same issue as the other users on this thread. Multiple devices, all Samsung/Android. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Logged on and off. Restarted phone & tablet. Only main feed showing

We have this every season. Can we just for once be able to get a full service from the off?

I have the same issues. No onboard footage and black screen when trying to change. Reported to sky last year with no response. Unhappy to say the least.

The only way around this is by pressing the red button on your TV and using this to watch the onboards/telemetry while using your device to watch the main feed. This is completely backward but the only way to see both.

Sky are useless at fixing any issue.

For information - as no one seems to monitoring or escalating this thread to the tech team- I've reported this to the Sky Help Centre via Facebook. I got brushed off yesterday - 'no one else has reported it, try again tomorrow' nonsense - so I contacted them again this morning at 4 a.m. Unsurprisingly they weren't open, but the got back to me this afternoon to say it's a recognised issue & they're working on it. Can't give me a timeline for a fix but I've assured them I'll be back on to them on Friday if not resolved. It may be worth doing the same if it's not fixed for you.

So much for being Diamond VIP member, huh? I'm fed up with having the same problem time after time with no urgency around offering solutions.

Thanks for the info.

I've recorded an official complaint about it, not received a response yet.

I reported things last year, generally got the brush off. It was haphazard as to whether it worked at various races in 2025, expect more of the same this year sadly...

Well, I suppose it's an improvement. At least I now have the other streams and I can switch between them, but every 2 mins (1:55 to be precise) while watching an in car stream, I keep getting an error popping up saying:

"You're watching on the maximum number of devices

To watch on this device you'll need to stop

watching on one of the other devices

Retry"

I then have to press the "Retry" button to restart the stream!

"maximum number of devices"?? What maximum? I'm only watching on this one device!

I was getting the same thing in FP1 as well, but after about 20mins it stopped doing it, however this time it continued throughout the whole of Sprint Qualifying.

Not acceptable Sky!

At least you're getting other streams, I'm still only getting the world feed.

Just out of interest, what device are you using. I'm using a Samsung mobile which from previous threads seems to be more affected than Apple products.

Sorry to hear you haven't got access to the other streams. I'm also using a Samsung mobile device.

Have you done anything differently from a week ago?

I only get an option that says 'key moments' which is the world feed.

No nothing different than I described in the first post. I selected the red Live F1 tile and that gave me the main Sky feed in the top of the screen, and underneath there is a menu with a list of all the other available streams: i.e. Timing Screen, Track Map, all the driver streams etc. IIRC there is also another menu option on the right just below the main feed labelled "Key Moments"? which gives a selection of highlight videos, but I rarely access that one, I'm mainly following a driver and listening to their team radio.

I had the same problem in SQ yesterday with the 'maximum number of devices' - I'll see what happens after quali today & if it's still the same I'll get back on to the help desk on Facebook.

There's a tile on the home page "live chinese f1 gp sprint, russell on pole for 3am start LIVE" but this just takes to a list of updated news feed like a website, not live tv

Clicking Watch shows a live motorsport section and in there is redLIVE CHINESE F1 GP:SPRINT - tapping that just shows the main feed with Key Moments

There is NO other on board view link anywhere I can find.

tried on multiple android devices also.

Sorry you still don't have access to the other streams keithhall.

I was still suffering the "2 min Retry" issue throughout the whole Sprint. I checked a number of the streams to see if it was stream specific, but It was happening on the Live main feed, Driver Tracker, F1 Kids, Multiscreen, Onboard mix and all the driver streams I checked, so basically everything.

Very annoying having to hit retry all the time and it distracted from following the race action. Not looking forward to having to do the same thing for Qualifying later, and then the whole race tomorrow! Sort it out Sky!

I try to watch the f1 on the sky sports app however, it'll play for a little while before saying that watching on maximum devices keeps coming up. I have tried going off the app then back on, removing all the devices on the account and then trying and also uninstalling the app then reinstalling it but nothing seems to work. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I'm getting this too. I've had it each session so far! Very frustrating and distracting away from watching the action. Sort it out Sky!

Its happened to me every session apart from the Australian GP. Kept popping up during the sprint race this morning.
