Sky Sports Football not opening on Ipad

I'm subscribed to Sky Sports, logging in via my Virgin account. For the past two evenings, I've been unable to watch any live football on my Ipad, with message that says "Apologies, we can’t load the page at the moment". It seems to be just the two Sports channels they use for football. All the other Sky Sports channels work fine and I can get the football on the Sky Sports app on my phone.

I've tried all the usual: delete the app and reload it, the Ipad OS is up to date, clear cache and so on.

On the equivalent Virgin Forum to here, there are several others experiencing the same issue, so I know it's not a glitch unique to my Ipad.

I tried downloading the Sky Go app and logging in via there but all it tells me is that I don't have a Sky Sports subscription, which of course, I do - via Virgin, so I can't use that route.

I can see this was reported to Sky in February 25, but I can't find any solution.

Anyone got any suggestions please ?

As a Virgin customer you can not use the Sky Go app, so to be clear you are signed in as a Virgin customer to the Sky Sports app ?

I just tried it last night in case it worked, which of course, it didn't, as explained.

Just tried to view again(Charlton/Wycombe) but without success. Same 'Apologies, we can't load' etc. message, after deleting the app on my Ipad and re-installing it.

All other Sky Sports channels open no problem.

Is Sky deliberately blocking these channels?

This appeared to be a problem in February with a number of Virgin customers, so are they just blocking Virgin for some reason?

That doesn't really make any sense why Sky would block the channel for Virgin customers so have you spoken to Virgin themselves about this ?

I agree that it wouldn't make sense for Sky to block Virgin customers, but a number of others on the the Virgin Forum have had the same issue recently and one of the moderators suggested we take this up on the Sky Forum , which I have done.

I'm not suggesting that Sky are deliberately doing this, but all I know is that the two (probably) most popular Sky Sports Channels are suddenly unavailable to me, when live matches are on.

I note that they do become available after the live games have finished...

And I note that a Sky subscriber has identified the same issue further down this thread.

Having this issue right now. Can't watch either premier league game on my iPad. Every other channel works, and it all works on my phone....

I did mention in my original post that I had tried to load the Sky Go app, but that's not recognising my Virgin subscription for Sky Sports and is asking me to pay again to view the channels, so obviously no good to me.

I'm a sky sports custemer through virgin and when I watch sky sports on through my virgin tv it works and the app works on all channels/sports unless it's premier league football live match then this message pops up saying apologies, we can't load this page at the moment

You need to raise this with Virgin as it will be something they need to look into, apparently according to @Bobartist there is already a topic on their community forums about this. Sky can not do anything for you as you do not have an account with them.

OK I'll go back to the Virgin Forum, but I only came here because I could see exactly the same message from the Virgin end to come here...

Why do I think that I (and by the looks of it) numerous others on both Virgin and Sky accounts are just getting bounced from one provider to the other?

Do Sky technicians ever come on this forum and actually look at he issues and then perhaps recognise that it's maybe something they need to address - either directly, or in conjunction with Virgin?

Yeah virgin say it's a sky product so I will need to actually go through sky to resolve it but there is no way to directly contact sky without using these forums

Same issue here! Virgin customer with Sky Sports addition.

can watch live football on my iPhone, on my windows laptop, BUT not on my IPAD. This suggests the problem is APP related.

All sports channels can be watched live until any are showing live football, then

"Apologies, we can't load the page at the moment ". Page is thrown.

this only happens with live football on any Sky sports channel. Can watch highlights etc, watching other live sport is also fine.

time to sort your app!

This worked for me:

I went to Virgin tv go app

tried to watch the sky sports channel on there

it said something along the lines off 'exit and watch' which took me to the Sky sports app and voila!

I'm having the same problem. Sky customer cannot watch football. All other sports channels work as normal.

Tried the Sky Go app again, but it's still telling me I need to upgrade my membership to view, so no help there.

And tonight the same 'Apologies, Something Went wrong' is evident for a live game on the ipad, with all other channels fine and the game is available on my phone.

So where do we go from here? It's clearly a problem with the SkySports app, as some Sky customers and not just Virgin, have joined this thread.

Anyone got any bright ideas how/where to get Sky to escalate this?
