Can't get desktop player for Sky sports on laptop

I am trying to watch sky sports on my laptop. I am a subscriber and am signed in on the laptop (and I can watch sky sports on my TV). When I download the desktop player I am told at the end of the process that I am offline and need to try again when I am connected to the internet. But I am connected to the internet and all other apps are working (e.g. BBC iplayer, you tube, etc. ). How can I watch Sky sports football?

Have you tried rebooting your laptop or see what happens if you install the Sky Go app and use that instead ?

Thanks for the suggestion. I have rebooted and even reset the laptop with no success. I hadn't thought about sky Go though so thanks I'll try that.

Yes thanks I can get the current premier league football match through sky go. Will I be able to get EFL championship matches on sk sports plus through sky go do you know (I guess not). Thanks for your help.

Sometimes an odd match is shown on Channel 412 (also called Sky Sports+) but for the other you would need to use the Sky Sports app on a mobile device.
