unknown payment on credit card

My credit card has been charged with an amount of £32 starting in January 2018 and was still being charged up to December 2025!

I have no knowledge of what this payment is for as my SKY is paid for through my bank account and not my credit card. I did have more than one account several years ago (one in my son's name) and two in my own name (different houses) but these were cancelled.

Can someone tell me what account they are in respect of?

@Mondo691 all payments charged by Sky will be included in your Sky bills. Check your online bills to see what is shown for the £32 per month.

These amounts do not appear on my bill as they are not on my account - however SKY are saying they can't tell me whose account it is even though I have been paying for it for X years!

If those payments are definitely not for your Sky account then your next port of call is the credit card company...

Hi @Mondo691 What exactly is the payment name, Sky Digital? There are many companies that use Sky in their name not associated with the Sky Group.

If it not shown on your Sky account it might be from Sky marketplace which is different from you main sky account That maily for app and normal method of payment from them is credit or debit card and such payment will not appear on your normal Sky bill.

No, they can't do that for reasons of privacy and data protection.

Out of. Curiosity I presume the payment have now stop being taken, did they stop at a time when your credit card was replaced by a new one because the old one was out of date. This would point that the payments were no accepted as the your credit card information had changed.

HI - no they have not stopped - even when the credit card has been changed to a new number they are still coming out.

They did stop them and they refunded 12 months of transactions but then they were all recharged and taken in one lump sum in June - even though I had been issued a new credit card number!

My goodness... and to this day you still don't know what the payments are for?

Sounds like a recurring card payment which can be difficult to stop particularly if you cannot get through to the company with whom they were set up.

Would citizen's advice bureau be able to give you some guidance if the credit card company cannot assist?

In that case who ever is doing has probably access to credit card account details ? As a genuine Sky account you change your credit card details you have to change them on your Sky account other wise payments are declined and fail. Can you not ask your credit card company to block payments from that payee. That is a faculty available to me from my bank, it is as simple as going into my banks app finding the payee on the list of card Payments and pressing the button labled "block"

No it can't be as if you change you credit card details you have to go in your now tv account and up date the details Ofer wise the payments fail. And now don't go to your credit card company as ask for th up dated details. I definitely not Sky either as they don't do that from reading various post on here, if your debit/ card details change and you have not informed Sky of the change the payment fails and Sky just stop you're service until the payment details are updated and the outstanding amount paid,

Credit card companies (some at least) will still honour requests for payments even though they've issues a new card with a different number on it. This can be dependant on the type of payment and of course the reason for the change of card. A fraud claim would cancel all recurring payments on a card I suspect.

The fact that the OP asked for and got 12 months worth of payments refunded but the full 12 months was then taken again, suggests that either the automatic payment systems of the company involved saw the debit and just reapplied for it, or they convinced the credit card company that it was a legitimate charge. If the credit card company refunded in the first place, I'm surprised a block wasn't placed on them.

@Mondo691 If you don't mind me asking, who is the credit card company? They should be able to give you way more information than just "Sky subscription". Has it always been £32 a month for the whole 7 years? Seems odd in itself.
