Definitely a scam but disconcerting to hear that they knew you were a diamond customer, the amount you pay monthly & your package so I would check your account & change the password immediately & turn on 2 factor authentication as it sounds like they have access to your account - ensure there's no iPad order (or any other order) is showing on the account.

I received a call to my mobie number, supposedly from Sky, on Thursday 25 June.

The caller had anAsian accent and told me I was a loyal Diamond-rated customer and as a result would have my monthly direct debit reduced immediately and would also be sent a loyalty gift - an Apple iPad. The caller knew the amount I pay on my monthly direct debit and the details of the Sky package I have. However, they then asked me for my bank account sort code and bank account number at which point I decided not to co-operate as I thought this call could be a scam. At the same time as the call was happening, I also received confirmatory e-mails from what looked like Sky.com confirming the reduction in my direct debit payments and separately confirming I would receive a free Apple iPad as a loyalty gift. I checked the number I was called from and it turned out to be a VOIP number which made me suspicious although my partner said VOIP can be used by people working at home for their employer. Was this a scam?Anyone else had the same type of call?

They do this to gain sufficient information from you to order on your behalf a mobile etc from your account then leave you to pay for it. Check Sky's help guide here: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/account-takeover

I'd be a bit concerned they know your Sky package and other details. Might be worth changing your Sky password just to be sure. Add to that change your email password as well.

If I was the suspicious type, I would think that someone at Sky was being a very naughty boy (or girl), or their security systems needed a bit of tweaking!

With any calls from 'Sky' (especially unexpected calls) if the caller asks for your previously agreed telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which I would expect a genuine Sky agent to do) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it will be a scam call.

I have telephone communication turned off in my communication Sky preferences, so if I receive marketing calls claiming there Sky are know they are scams. Also my iPhone vets calls of unknown numbers ( that's numbers that are not in my contacts list), asking who calling before my phone ring. Most just hang up, and I then block ther number. If it was a genuine call from Sky I have there well published incoming number in my contacts nd then I will insure the asked me for my telephone number password first and I know to give a wrong one to make sue they challenge it
