’Significant’ discounts seem harder to come by these days so if you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer is unlikely to be available when you call again.

If you decide it’s no longer value for money and you’re thinking of changing providers remember that at the end of their minimum term you'll be in the same position with that company at which point you'll be able to return to Sky and benefit from the new customer discounts available at that particular time.

My contract is up for renewal. I rang Sky explained my difficulty as a pensioner in affording the monthly payments. I am a Sky diamond customer of 18years standing. A nice lady called Ruby made me a helpful, offer. It wasn't quite what I wanted but was getting close. Ruby suggested I contact Retentions who might be able to close the gap.I then spoke to a lady called Robin who said , astonishingly her best offer was a lot more than Ruby had offered. Robin said she couldn't match Rubys offer because it was personal to Ruby. So one part of Sky contradicts another , leading to the disappointment and impending cancellation from a loyal customer. What business sense does this make?

Thanks Daniel. I'm not prepared to be told by one Sky employee I can have a particular deal , then ten minutes later be told by anither Sky employee I can't have it. I'd rather cancel , than be treated like that.

If an offer is half-way decent and comes reasonably close to what you want, jump at it straightaway.
