Been with sky now for 28 years and what im paying is not even on the same planet as new customers.

Going to to see if I can get a better deal but from what ive seen online I can't see that doing me any good.

Prob Just gonna cancel it all, and look into freestyle with rotating subs on Netflix, hbo, disney.

Out of contract for tv but tied into BB until September. Can I cancel tv and get the wife to do a new customer deal even though I have a a current fibre account I guess not as most new customer deals have fibre included.

Prob better off canceling go freestanding route and go new customer for tv I 5 months if I end up missing sky too much.

Kicker is the money ive given sky over 27 years I should of bought a house with a mortgage instead back the and I'd prob have paid it off by now lol

@Henhead

No, Sky are wise to that type of activity.

New customers are offered good discounts as an incentive to join. Most companies do this now. You probably took advantage of such a new customer deal when you first joined Sky.

If you can't negotiate an acceptable price for renewing then perhaps consider a move to an alternative provider, but in 18/24 months you'll be in the same position with them, and will be able to rejoin Sky if you wish and take up any new customer deals available at that time.

Comcast have laid their stall out and appear to prioritise getting new customers over retaining long standing ones. As other providers do this too it seems to be a common theme.

No you wouldn't be able to do this as you can't usually have two different accounts at the same address plus Sky are aware that cancelling and trying to sign up in a different name is what some try to do to get new customer offers.

Why not just see if you can get a discount out of Sky and if you can it will mean agreeing to a new contract.

Not sure if it's the same if get the same if actually get ee tv from ee, but if you get it from BT the box they provide is connected to your tv aerial and most of there other channels though it on the box's programme guide are actually Freeview channel coming down your aerial. All which you can get for free anyway. If you have TNT sport though them though the channels appear on the box's tv guide they are they are though HBO max app. So if you are thinking of getting ee you might as well get a cheap tv firestick and download the the now tv HBO max app and a by other app you want and would probably be cheaper the subscribing to ee

Yes it is, those channels you receive are not cheap to run.

If I leave its still going to cost them the same to run and provide these.

As a business model I would rather have 10 customers staying with a discount than 10 customers leaving and getting no income from them at all.

Their business model of giving new customers deals of around 30% to 50% cheaper than their longstanding customers in eyes is not a great one, but thats how they are obviously going forward but good look to them.

In current climate its probably gonna bite them, as I know personally quite a few have cancelled or are going to and im sure that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Less customer base means less income which will end up in either weaker content or higher costs for people who do say.

Just my thoughts and ive personally decided to vote with my wallet.

Everyone has a choice and I dont expect or believe it will be same as mine and everyone is entitled to their own views.
