I'm trying to negoitiate my contract with sky at the moment. The advisor quoted a 24 month contact and a price that would be applicable until the end of 2026. I asked what the price would be from start of 2027 and the advisor says they can't tell me?
I said that I can't really in. good faith sign up for a 2 year contract only knowing what it will cost for 8 months and that they could change it to any amount after that fact as I will be locked in and will face early termination charges if I wanted to leave.

Does anyone else think that this is odd?

You'll still be subject to the April price rises like everyone else and since Sky don't use the RPI+ a percentage they can't tell you what it will be. Q, HD+ and BB customers will still be able to leave fee free at that time. <STRIKE>Do they not mention a £3 or £4 price rise somewhere? Maybe not.</STRIKE>

In reality that only happens once a year abount this time of year April, we have just had this years. And the increase is about £1 or 2 maybe for somthing like sports £3 tops for each of your products. The only other thing that would increase your subscription total is if you add somthing to it. Also though you are loacked in the minimum term for that 2 year period if Sky do increase your subscription price in that period under ofcom regulations if you have broadband or satellite tv you have the right to cancel your subscription without paying any penalty or termination fee giving 31days notice within 30 days of receiving your notification of such increase. This right dose not apply to Sky stream or glass at present as that is a streaming service not covered by ofcom. Hope that makes things a bit clearer.

And I said in my previous post if you have broadband or satellite tv you have the right to cancel with any termination fee described above.

For information, in the UK Ofcom now specifies that ISPs must either quote what the price of the second year will be at the start of the contract or permit exit without penalty at the end of the first year when the increase notifications land.

Subscription television is regulated differently, but this year Sky has been applying the same option to leave on their satellite platforms (but not Glass & Stream)
