Hi

Just answered a call at mums from 01228 248*** from Sky Assured Maintenance to confirm her 2nd year of her contract for her TV and BT box. Price reduced from £150 to £125. I said I didn't recall signing up to anything or making the payment and refused to authorise any payment until I could review my paperwork so agreed to a callback next Monday. Glad I answered and pretended to be mum and am so looking forward to their call next week! Anywhere else I can report this if they did rob £150?

@Bethda

This so called company are not associated with Sky Q or Sky TV services. It's only Sky Protect, operated by Domestic and General Insurance that are loosely affiliated to Sky.

Search for that company on Google.

Scammers try to obtain sufficient information to be able to order expensive mobile devices under your name which Sky innocently deliver to you / your Mum

The scammers would then recontact you (again claiming to be Sky) saying they have made a mistake and for you to send it to a (non Sky) address. If you did that they then have the device and you have the bill.

They are very cunning. They may send packaging to post the item (to them) or might even send a 'courier' to collect it.

See this link

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/account-takeover

With any calls from 'Sky' (especially unexpected calls) if the caller asks for your previously agreed telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which I would expect a genuine Sky agent to do) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it will be a scam call.

See this link as well

Because it has "Sky" in the name, it doesn't mean it has anything to do with the Sky Group.

Unfortunately by itself or in conjunction with most other words 'Sky' isn't protectable as a tradename.

They might even offer support: what they can't do is claim to be Sky Television, Sky Protect or an authorised partner.
