Unfortunately this scenario crops up from time to time. Only the account holder can cancel the subscription so try contacting her through mutual friends or her family. I assume your ex also pays the bills which will now increase due to the annual price increase and if the discounts have expired.

Can someone advise as Sky broadband is only option in my area.

When you say "the contract has now finished " do you mean the account holder has contacted Sky given the necessary 31 day notice, all service has finished and any equipment retuned to Sky. In that case you can just set up account your own name. However if you mean that just you minimum term has end and the service is still active on a rolling contract then yes the account holder needs to contact Sky to cancel, giving 31 day notice and any equment returned to Sky. Only then will you be able to have account in your name and get Sky broadband. Also has mention in earler post you though you say Sky broadband is only option in your area this is wrong, as said above Sky broadband is installed by open reach which also owns all the wiring and equipment outside that come in to you property Sky are one provider of many that use it. As such there is many providers that can supply broadband to your property, Try puting your address in to either BT , EE or even Vodafone web sites to name three as see what comes up.
