Outstanding payment

Hi,

I left Sky in December 2025. I paid them on 24th November 2025, and telephoned them to advise that I was leaving as had found a much cheaper broadband provider. My new provider started the service on 21st December.

They're saying that I owe them just over £56 and have referred me to a debt collector.

I wasn't in a contract with them, my 18 month contract expired in October 2025.

I'm really confused and the debt collection agency are saying that I was on a rolling contract. Obviously I'll pay if I really do owe them but I know that I gave them notice of going to a different provider. Thanks for reading my rambling

It your minimum term that expires after that your contract continues on a monthly rolling contract until you contract sky and tell them you want to cancel and giving them 31 days notice from the day you contract them. You billing will continue until the end of notice period. Sky should either have sent you a email or letter confirming the date your contract will end. Did you receive this. Otherwise for some reason you contact may not been cancelled. Under your circumstances with debt agency already involved, sky may not be able speak to you as they won't talk to you while there is unpaid bill. Telephoeing then just gives you a message to pay the outstanding amount. You say you have received a communication from a debit collector you need to follow the instructions given in that communication to pay the outstanding amount. After that you will be able to contact sky to sort out your situation.
