Price Increase - when does it stop ?

OK We all expect price increases to tariffs - but not a regular £3 - I have been a Sky customer for almost 23 years and had I been subject to a regular £3 annual increase through this time - I would now be paying almost £90 for a service that new customers get for just £22 https://www.offersnewcustomers.co.uk/sky-offers-for-new-customers/#bundles

How is that fair ?

Long term customers used to be treated much better - instead nowadays - we are punished for remaining loyal.

New customers are offered good discounts as an incentive to join. Most companies do this now. You probably took advantage of such a new customer deal when you first joined.

If you can't reach an acceptable price for renewing then move to an alternative provider, but in 18/24 months you'll be in the same position with them, and will be able to rejoin Sky if you wish and take up any new customer deals available at that time.

New customers are harder to attract than retain existing ones (Point in case)...

@Wibbly-Woo nothing to do with fairness. The commercial reality is that it's harder to attract new customers than keep existing customers, hence new customers get the bigger discounts to lure them.

Therein is the solution if you don't think you're getting value for money from Sky - switch to a new provider to take advantage of their new customer deals.

You can also partially blame OFCOM for the higher price increases now. Whilst Sky don't directly set the price increases 2 years in advance, as OFCOM would like, this means it gives them some flexibility in the increases they set ( and whilst Sky can perhaps set their increases to slightly less than competitors, they aren't going to massively undercut them). Whereas the other providers are baking in higher price increases than we would have had under the old system, ( as the providers need to predict what prices/costs are going to be like in 12 months time when a customer is signing a new contract).

I pay £83 for Signature + sport + HD + Second box !

I have always paid my bills but am disabled

You have mentioned that numerous times on the forum boards but it's irrelevant in connection with an annual price increase or prices for new customers.

If you are not happy you can always cancel now (new ofcom ruling for satellite tv) after receiving you notification you can cancel within 30 days of receiving it without any termination fee even if you are on minimum term contract

Not exactly a new Ofcom ruling. Its just Sky lost their various legal appeals over whether satelliete television would come under the same sanctions that are applied to phone and broadband contracts.
