If I paid the bill by card payment today before direct debit date in 6 days time, will the direct debit not be collected?

Why would you want to make an unnecessary manual payment?

The direct debit payment is requested by Sky 14 days in advance, on your billing date the funds are then taken so manually paying the bill will not stop this process so there should never be any needs to make a manual payment unless your direct debit fails after two attempts to take it by Sky.
