Upcoming changes to Sky TV Ultimate

I see that from March, Sky TV Ultimate is going to include Disney+ and HBO Max. Does this mean existing customers under contract will be forced to take the hit of a price increase for these products. Given that the starting prices are £5.99 and £4.99 respectively, that could be up to an approx £11 increase.

You will get HBO Max, Hayu, Disney+ along with your existing Discovery+ (and Paramount+ for Sky Cinema Customers) included at no extra cost to your package. (Free)

So Disney+ and HBO Max will be included in the subscription for existing Sky Ultimate TV subscriptions, but this does not state whether or not the price will increase. Only NOW subscribers will have it included with no price increase. The same is not stated for Sky Ultimate TV subs. (where does it state this will be for no additional costs?)

Bundled Disney+ will be the minimum advertising supported tier with no new movies included, and bundled HBO Max Basic is largely what Sky customers already get through the Sky Atlantic and Discovery+ arrangements. It appears the providers are hoping their profit will be through upgrades rather than baseline products.

It's HBO Max that won't have new WB movies included. There are two low cost HBO Max packages available, "Basic with Ads" (£4.99, no movies) and "Standard with Ads" (£5.99, includes movies). Sky is bundling the £4.99 package as new WB movies will remain available on Sky Cinema.

Disney+ is the Standard with Ads package which includes all movies.

As I some one made me aware elseware on this forum the ultimate tv pachge quoted in the press realise is the one in the Sky stream and glass platform which is that platform high price entertainment package, which is £22 a month at present going up to £24, not sure if that due to changes or just the new April increased price. As far as Sky Q goes that ultimate tv package only gives you standard Netflix with adds, and that won't be changing just as you said your post going up a £1 in the April price increase. From what I read above SkyQ customers will get Disney+ and HBO max add to there package at no extra cost if the have signature which is SkyQ entertainment package

All I have on my bill are Sky Ultimate TV - entertainment with Netflix £35 (£38 from April 1st) and Sky Sports £33 (£35 from April 1st).
I then have UHD £6, Ad Skipping £6, and Whole Home £15.
That's the baseline prices without my in contract discounts.
It's usually quite hard to find anyone who pays the same. 🙂

Sky do an annual price increase every year ( usually April) so yes its almost a certainty the base cost of the package will increase as part of the April price rise.

Also as NOW TV is essentially contract-free ( unless you signed up to one of the longer term 6 or 12 month deals), any planned price rises for NOW TV don't really have to be communicated in the same way, ( as NOW doesn't have multi-year contracts) so Sky could easy just annouce that starting in X weeks time the costs of the rolling NOW TV packages are increaing to Z.

The between Sky and now as you contract free so yes they could announce a price starting in X weeks but good thing with now if the subscriber did not like the new price they can cancel immediately without any notice and just view until there present month ends. The funny with now you cancel and now oftern come back with a cheaper price to try and keep you, which defeat the object of putting there price up in the first place. At the moment the fact of adding HBO max to the entertainment membership is the same as the same price of entertainment on its own. However I am expecting a price in the coming months as if Sky price are increasing in April I would expect now tv prices to follow suite

No. Despite the timing, the increase you are seeing is the annual April price rise. Disney+, HBO and Hayu are being added at no additional cost.

I know it is confusing I to thought as SkyQ subscriber that the untimate tv pack in Sky Q packages was going up but it not. As I was told elsewhere on this forum and looking again at press release The ultimate tv that is refered to is the entainment package in the Sky stream and glass services. That package is going to include Disney and HBO max and is going up from £22 to £24 problely as part of April price increase any way. The Sky Q ultimate tv package which is just Netflix Standard with ads is staying with just that, and is going up to £5.50 in the April price increase. Sky Q subscribers with signature in there package will get Disney+ and HBO max included at no extra cost. If you look at your April bill will see this confirmed as this shows the pachage is priced at £5.50

This is exactly my question too! I've just paid my yearly Disney+ subscription at £149.99 - Now I'll also have it through Sky, do I need to cancel my separate subscription? Will I get any of my money back?

I have just spoken with Sky customer service, and had a bit of clairification. For existing Sky Ultimate TV Customers, the new services (Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu) will NOT be included in your package. These will be offered as OPTIONAL add-ons and the relevant prices have not yet been set. You will be able to contunue with your current package without the new services at your then current costs.

Unfortunately you've been speaking to an extremely badly advised advisor. All 3 are included at no additional cost. There is an option to not have them if, for example, you currently get a higher tiered pack from a different 3rd party.

Not surpised, as was put on hold a few times as he talked to a manager so may have been confused.
