topic Sky Cost in Account & Billing

15 / 09 / 2025.

I have just ended a discussion with a person from Sky Customer Services about the cost of my Sky TV & Broadband package. As i cannot afford the monthy cost of £124.00. As i am writing this discussion, I am in a state of anger over the way Sky have trapped me into the present contract i have. I am 72 years old, and on a State Pension. Last December, I had reasons to contact Sky asking for a reduction in my then Sky package, which consisted of the TV & Braodband, it was reduced down to £86.00 per month which I considered to still be a lot of money just to watch TV & use a computer.

I checked my bank account statement this morning to find the Sky have taken £124.00 from the account, and this is for the package I have, which I am told is a basic package! I telephoned Sky to ask them to either reduce my package down to a reasonable, and realisti monthly sum, or to cancel the whole Sky subscription. I was then informed that it would cost me over £600.00 to cancel the contract!

I hope that this discussion will alert existing customers about when you agree to a contract with Sky, please be careful of this trap, of which I was never ever informed of!

Theres no trap. The latest T’s and C’s (which you agreed to) explicitly state you can’t cancel when still in a minimum term deal unless Sky agree. (If they agree you’ll have to pay the remainder of your discounted term).

See the below link
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv

They subsequently confirm the details in writing.
