Can I upgrade and swap my old device without paying for a plan. My son already has a pay as you go SIM card so I would be using that he just wants a new phone and I knew I had an upgrade / swap just not sure how much I would pay

You can do this but if it will not let you do it wants you to select a plan then select the cheapest one and when the sim arrives do not activate it so it is cancelled and therefore you will not be charged for it.

So you still have to pay out for the phone each month is that correct? Always been on contract phones so not clued up on phone only deals

All mobiles have to be paid for until they have been paid off in full @Gemma212514 and that might include any you have returned to Sky as a swap because if the value Sky says it is worth is not enough to pay it off then the difference is added to the next available bill.
