Such calls offering a discount are designed to capture your details so they can order devices that you then pay for as per this:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/account-takeover

If that call was from Sky before they even start to talk to you they would ask for your telephone password which I presume that caller did not and even at this stage if they do ask for this then give a wrong one, a scammer will then carry on whilst Sky should tell you it is wrong.

I've just had the call from SKY telling me they would give me 40% off for the remainder of my contract. When I asked why, she said 'for being a loyal customer' which I am and have been so believable. But she asked for my email. I said you should know it! She said it was to 'verify who I was'

so I gave her my email that she got wrong 6 times. I said surely you are just verifying so have it in front of you so why are you getting it wrong?

she then said she would be sending me an email, had I got it. She said open it! I said NO, not until you verify who YOU are. If you are Sky you would know what 40% off my bill would be. She couldn't tell me! She said open the email and that will tell me what I'm paying. I said "NO because you should know it. This is a scam!"

Honestly, the lengths they go to

I trust Nobody anymore which is so sad!

I had a similar call at 3:15pm today. Asian sounding female on a very bad line with lots of background noise, calling from 0160***0452. Like LoulaJack, she offered me a 40% discount (as a reward for my loyalty). Worringly, she was able to quote my Sky Account Number, telling me that I only had Sky TV and that my monthly charge was going to reduce from £35.50 (which it is) to £16.50 (in my dreams!). She gave me a Sky ID for her "AJ77773521". As part of her "validation checks" she asked me for the FIRST four numbers of my bank account numbers, which, of course, I declined to give her. She did appear to know what the last four numbers of my bank account were though. She also sent me an email to my regular email address and was also able to quote a second gmail address that I use!!! I terminated the call and logged onto Sky, where I found a Customer Services Number 0800 *** 3372. When I rang this number, I got a pre-recorded message that a "Sky Department" had tried to contact me earlier and would retry later. This almost had me believing that the her call might be genuine. So I rang a different Sky Number 0800 *** 2747 and spoke to a very pleasant guy (who's name I couldn't understand or write down). He checked Sky's records and said that nobody from Sky had tried to contact me. I offered to give him timings and details, including the email address she was using "sky@notifications.contact.sky" but he just said to block the email address and the phone number that the caller had used. I thought that Sky might be a bit more proactive and welcome any information provided. Does any of this sound familiar and is there a better way of escalating my information? Please advise. Thanks.
