Scam call?

I've received a call from a Southampton number saying they are from Sky and want to discuss a 40% discount. I assumed it was a scam call so ended the call. I then phoned the number I have for Sky Marketing which I know is legitimate and there's a automated response saying that a Sky department has called me and they will phone back. Is the original call genuine??

That is a scam call as they want access to your Sky account so they can order devices via it while you would have to pay as per this:

You did the correct thing by hanging up with them so if you gave them no details that they asked for then you should have no issues with your Sky account.

Who knows - scammers are known to spoof genuine numbers.

It's always safer to call companies using the number on their website.

Also, bear in mind you have a telephone password - if you are asked for it and are unsure whether it's Sky or not then give the wrong password to start with. If it's Sky they'll say it's wrong - scammers will continue...
