Contract ended email - possible phishing

I have had emails appearing to come from Sky saying my contract has ended and I can save £240 with a new 24month contract.

The address it apears to come from sky @ email.contact.sky which looks fishy to me as its domain is ".sky" and not "sky.com"
They seem to know my name though.

I have logged onto my sky account and when I look a t my bills, they say my contract doesn't end until may/june 2027

Has anyone else had these emails and do you know if this in fact genuine?

@IsThisNameOK The domain is valid, a scammer would not address you by name and they would tell you to click a link with such wording as urgent, last chance etc

@IsThisNameOK If in doubt, ring Sky to confirm if this is a genuine email or not.

The list of legitimate Top Level Domains is far, far longer than most people realise.

'dot sky' is administered out of Switzerland by an entity acting on behalf of Sky Group for server addresses used by Sky itself.

For more than a decade it's been possible to apply for the right to operate a great many dictionary words as a 'gTLD' by offering The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (supposedly a non-profit organisation) a suitably large sum of money.

However Sky is one of very few big companies to actually use such a vanity domain because, as you've just demonstrated, it turns out people don't trust them ; )
