Loss of Eurosport

Is it just me that thinks how can Sky justify a price increase this year. There are very rarely any new series now coming to Sky, they have lost Eurosport which if you now want to watch you have to pay a minimum of £29 which is beyond a joke. I personally think that they are just taking peoples eyes out and we are always the losers. All I would want would be a fair deal for a fair price and I don't think that is what Sky are offering at the moment. I would be interested to here anybody else's opinion on this.

If you don't feel your subscription is value for money, and you're not in a minimum term discount then give Sky the required 31 days notice to cancel. The latest T's and C's state you can't cancel during a minimum term unless Sky agree and if they do you'll have to pay the remainder of the deal in one bill.

Unfortunately I renewed my contract in November not knowing at the time of the coming loss of Eurosport and it is the fact that you are now expected to pay a minimum of £29 for something that you used to get for nothing. It is ridiculous and I am sure that I am not the only person that thinks that. Companies just want more money out of people all of the time and I think it is a total rip off.

Unfortunately the decision to close Eurosport was taken by Warner Brothers Discovery who own the channels.

Remember these weren't Sky's decisions. But give them a call and see if you can convince them to leave early...

Unfortunately i doubt Sky even knew in November that WDB were going to close Eurosport and move all the content to the TNT Sports channels.

Sport is still seen as a premium property, because its one of the few things people will watch live ( thus they can still get decent ads rates for sporting content).

Yeah as others have said the loss of Eurosport isn't anything to do with Sky. It's also been removed on Virgin Media for the same reasons. The channel availability is constantly evolving and you have no guarantee any channel will remain during your minimum term.

...and is allowed under the contract. But others have reported some success if you wax lyrical about the change impacting you...

Of course, it works in both directions but removals tend to more common than additions.

Eurosport is the channel I watch the most and I have stayed with SKY for years at over £1,200 a year because its there. I must asume that SKY were given the license to broadcast Eurosport for free as they are not offering viewers a price reduction for the reduction in service. I will be leaving SKY and saving myself £1,200.

Totally agree! I too renewed in November last year as the price increases were getting ridiculous. Told Sky I was cancelling as I am semi-retired now and can't afford it - they miraculously managed to find me a better deal at £95pm but today I see that Eurosport has gone and if I want to watch winter sports or some snooker I will have to pay extra??????

How come Sky haven't been in touch to say due to withdrawal of channels the package price will be reduced!

Shoddy work, Sky - I will be moving on elsewhere

@SonicGirl1963 You need to read your T&C's it states in there that the channel lineup can change, sky make no promises about channels remaining on a platform, more so given they have zero control over these channels.

Eurosport finished in this coutry.

Also the likes of BT/EE and Virgin haven't given their customers a discount either so leaving Sky for another provider doesn't really achieve anything.

I'm not leaving for another provider, I'll watch it online on Discovery + , see European football and some Premiere league and save £80 per month. Win Win.

Regarding the discount price for TNT Sports from the research that I have done you can get TNT Sports for as low as £16.50 a month and they offer sports packages from £7 a month. Why can't Sky do this? They pay ridiculous amounts of money for the rights to Premier league football which I am not bothered about at all but I can't help feeling that their price increases cover this and other sports even if you don't watch them. I may be wrong but I cannot see how a price increase of £3.50 a month for Sky signature is possibly justified.

I forgot to say that £16.50 for TNT Sports and the sports packages from £7 a month were from Virgin.

Yes you're right but i'm paying £110 per month for SKY, saving of £80
