Finding out where an email address is linked

I am trying to change my email address for Sky login. The email address is apparently already link to an account. How can I find out where it's linked to, and then unlink it, so I can use it as my main email for logging into Sky. Thank you.

Hi @Mel139 Have you tried using the forgotten password, then sign on to see what it is linked to?

Hi - thank you so much - it seems to be associated with my existing account, but I can only log into the 2 accounts separately and they lead to the same information. What can I do to unlink them please, the help section is too confusing for me, thank you.

Not sure if this will work, you need to be logged out to try it:

A way to check which Sky ID's a linked to an account is by clicking the "forgotten username" link when signing in and it will show you all the emails/sky ID's associated with your account, which you can then try and log in with.

Hi @Mel139

Click on your name (top right) and select My Details. The Main account ID will show additional users, the other one will not show additional users. Using the Main account, you can remove the additional user.

Hi - thank you, I have now removed the additional user which has the email address on it that I want to use. However because there is still an account with that email address, even though nothing is associated with it. I can't use the email address for my main account. Is there a way to delete this email address account please? Thank you so much.

@Mel139 I may be able to offer a workaround, depending on your email provider (Gmail and Outlook.com works, your mileage may vary) you can add +sky to your email and it will be seen as a unique email address but still be received by your email.

So for example if your email name was joe.bloggs, you could use joe.bloggs+sky instead.

These automatic aliases are useful when you have a main email that you need to use but it's already in use.
