Hi, I signed up to sky last year, and its better than virgin with the deal I got with sky. I was a virgin customer for over 30 years.

Anyway there is going to be a price increase of 6%, which is based on the original price I should be paying, and not what I I am paying now, with all the discounts. So I want to know, can I cancel my contract, giving sky 1 months notice? I have tv/broadband. The total is 6.50 a month increase, and that is a lot of money. I m signed in for july 2026.

Thank you Phil

Hi @phil19651 Simple answer is no. Sky are normally very careful not to break the 10% list increase which would trigger to right to cancel.

You have answered your own question. As the price before the discount is not increasing by more than 10% and as you are in a contract until next year then you can not cancel as these increases are allowed via the terms and conditions you agreed to when you signed up with Sky.

This 10% rule is interesting, didn't know about that.

I want to leave Sky because November's new £60 deal (Signature + Netflix Standard + HD + Broadband) is already moving up to £67.49. So within five months it'll shoot up from £55 to £67.49, which feels like a huge betrayal.

Any rights here? I flat out don’t want to pay that. But can maybe get out of this?

If you have Sky Q this year you cancel cancel giving 31day notice without incurring a early termination fee fee even if you are in minimum term, if you cancel within 30 days of receiving your April increase email or letter. If you have Sky steam or glass you can not cancel without incurring a early termination fee if your on minimum term, The reason for this is Sky Q is a satellite service and is subject to ofcom regulations and ofcom have ruled that sky do this this year. However Sky stream and glass are streaming services service not covered by ofcom.I understand you cancel cancel you broadband service without a termination fee, again if you cancel within 30 days of receiving your email.

Yes it dose mention Sky steam at the bottom but I think they can only cancel with incurring a early termination fee if the there minimum term has finished or on monthly rolling contract. I might be wrong the only to see is to give sky a ring and try it. They can only say if you are on stream or glass there is a early termination fee,

Also it probably say on your April increase email or letter if you can cancel without incurring a fee. Iam on Sky Q and it dose and gives the phone number to call. I have not seen a Sky stream or glass increase email or letter so I don't know what that says, but interested to see if that says the same,

Pain in the ..... I don't intead calling Sky until I can give it the time which will probably be Thursday/Fri I will post then what they say. The main reason I want to get out is because of all the known issues with Stream - Lip sync, black screen, dark screen, play list etc. and BB about 1/2 of what I pay for.
