If you look under my Sky my bills and then go to view bill and then next predicted you can see how much your bill is expected to rise by April/May. I've used this methodology and found my bill (broadband & TV including sports) rises by 12%, almost twice Sky's announced rise. If my increase is typical I cannot see how the "average" rise can be 6.2% unless many users are not getting an increase!

April price increases - notification? (broadband specifically)

Is anyone aware of when customer are likely to be directly notified of their April increases by email or post, or is the announcement itself and/or future bills on MySky considered to be sufficient notification?

I'm asking as we recontracted for broadband last April at £40pm (£34 broadband, £6 Sky WiFi Max) for an 18 month term. This went up by £4 in November (£38 broadband, £6 Sky WiFi Max), and we had an email saying we could leave penalty free due to the size of the rise. We figured 'better the devil we know' and stayed. Now this is due to go up another £3 (£41 broadband, £6 Sky WiFi Max) in April.

Our overall broadband+Max bill will have gone up 17.5% in less than 12 months, Looking at the broadband component of the bill in isolation (the WiFi Max component is unchanged), our bill will lhave gone up 20% in less than 12 months since recontracting.

We're considering jumping ship for broadband, as even with a competitor's annual fixed price increases over 24 months, we'd still be saving at least £240 for a comparable broadband + WiFi 6 package. If April's increase comes with a penalty free leaving allowance that is.

The Sky Stream TV side will also be going up but, unlike the broadband, we're happy with the price increase given how much we get out of the TV, Sky Cinema, whole home & 4K/Atmos subscription.

All hinges on when we might receive notification of the April price increases. Hoping for either an email or postal notification sooner rather than later.

Based on previous experience it's early march for me

i think they stagger it based on customers payment due dates

iirc sky are covered provided customers receive the notice no later than their 31 days before their April payment due date

This is just Sky waffle and an excuse for, in effect, being economical with the truth. That's is not what they've put into their press release. How do we find list price anyway? Taking the components on my bills without "discount" the rises appear to be: 9.6% (stream), 10% (sports), 3.3% (TNT sports) and 7% (broadband & talk), That's 7.5% overall considerably higher still than the 6.2%. So who gets the lower increase to create the average?
