All providers do this. It's extremely unlikely Sky will get your discounts down to near that of a new customer. You'll have no doubt benefited from new customer discounts 19 years ago. If you move to another provider you'll get their new customer deals but in 18/24 months you'll be in the same position again.

I can't believe Sky! Our bill at one point was £150 a month, after cancelling to go to EE they charged me £89 for the first 2 years literally the exact same thing!

My daughter then decided to look around after EE and could see for new customers the same offer they charged me £150 a month was only £89 I was shocked because I was told they couldn't match!

I was with Sky for 19 years and It shows loyalty is just a thing of the past!

The £89 price is for new customers only to tempt them to join, when you first signed up to Sky you would have had a discount that would not be available to other existing customers. Sky doesn't have to match such prices so if you are not in a minium term of a contract you are free to leave and go elsewhere.

If there was no reason, they would have done so.

The reality is that Sky and other providers are willing to accept a marginal profit or a loss on a first subscription in anticipation of the customer paying a more profitable price after the initial minimum term has expired. Loyalty doesn't override the need for profitability, unfortunately.

Profit margin has traditionally been a fairly significant reason for being in business, and new customer deals may have very little.
