Hello

I have been with sky for quite some time nut i only use the box for streaming service. Recently i was visited by a tv licensing Agent who compelled me to pay for a tv licence because he said there is scheduled tv on my sky box andi have to pay for even though i do not use.

could you please assist in having the schedule tv removed because i do not afford to pay for the tv license for channels i do not watch?

@Melissa2026 You cannot get the channels removed without unsubscribing from them, doing so would mean closing your Sky account.

If you are using anything like the BBC iplayer, ITV X, Amazon you have to have a TV licence as per this:

There is absolutely no chance that Sky would consider removing the live channel EPG: it's the core of their offering and what distinguishes them from the global streaming platforms.

That's incorrect: it's actually viewing live channels (or any iPlayer content) which requires the address to be licensed, not the presence of a device capable of doing so.

There is no option to get channels and the like removed, as your suggesting.

A simple summary taken for the TV license site;

Your TV Licence lets you enjoy a huge range of TV. It covers you for:

All TV channels - like BBC, ITV, Channel 4, U&Dave and international channels
Pay TV services - like Sky, Virgin Media and EE TV
Live TV on streaming services - like YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and Freely
Everything on BBC iPlayer

This includes watching, recording and downloading. On any device.

Technically having a Sky Q box would require a licence. There's not a way to access it without receiving live material. TV licensing are very keen on people having licences...

Disconnecting the satellite feeds would but the box will eventually cease working.

If one is using apps that do not require a licence then a dedicated box (such as AppleTV or Firestick) would make more sense.

Shouldn't have engaged with them at all let alone allowing them to enter your property.

Just tell them you don't watch live TV and then goodbye.

You do not need a tv licence unless you watch or record LIVE TV or use BBC IPLAYER. No licence needed for streaming after any other platforms unless it is LIVE. Had a TV licence goon try this on me. I refused entry told him to be on his way. Fact that the property has a sky dish up means nothing. Been there since uiu moved in. Not paying to take in down.......
