OMG. First month with sky and already regretting it. Been overcharged by £29 and it's impossible to discuss this with a human. Led around in circles. I'm cancelling my direct debit so they can't take any more out. Has anyone got any advice please?

If you’re a new customer your first couple of bills are usually higher, basically due to the dates they cover (more than the usual number of days). In effect you’ll be charged from the date of the activation up until the end of that billed month, and for the next month in advance. Check your future bills to see if they reflect the amount you were expecting. Also see these links

Very unwise. Cancelling your payment method will increase your problems. Sky services will be restricted, late payment fees will be added, you won't be able to speak to Sky, you won't be able to cancel and continued non payment will result in Sky passing the debt to a Debt Recovery company which will ultimately affect your credit score.

If that's the case, they've charged me £29 for 3 days usage. My monthly bill with sky stream and ultimate broadband was meant to be £40 per month and they've taken:

£17 4/9/24

£15 4/9/24

£22 23/9/24

£15 25/9/24

Contract started 21/8/24

What do your future bills show because as the link posted by @Daniel0210 explains when you join billing starts from your activation date and the first bills will be more as they cover a longer period than the usual 4 weeks due to this. The bills should show the period they cover,

Don't cancel your DD.

It won't get the result you are hoping for.

If there is an error in the billing then they will apply a credit.
