Connecting a mini box after a hard disk corruption

My Hard disk broke last night - went through all the steps including factory reset for my main box and mini box. No luck so an engineer booked for next week. I have live pictures on the main box (with no pause or record without a disk) but even though the mini box says it is connected to the network and the Q box, there is no picture.

The message is 'There is a problem with your satellite signal. Your recordings and on demand service may still be available. For help, press ?

Pressing ? just tells me to reconnect to the main box which it already is - tried it anyway to no avail

If I click on Home I get a small black screen top left saying 'no satellite signal', the page itself is the same as the main box - lots of words and blue boxes but no pictures. The only other difference is the mini box can't see the TV Guide - curiously they can both send me to the netflix app

Everything is plugged in correctly - I have tried rebooting and resetting the Main box, the mini box and the router in various sequences - is there a magic sequence I have missed?

Channels are buffered onto the hard disk before being sent to the mini. (So it won't work until your main box is fixed)

The main box will work as the live satellite signal can be displayed...

So if I had left the mini box alone I would still have live sky in the kitchen... every day is a school day!
