I am having a media wall built and the Electrican says I need to speak to sky before mounting the Sky Q box behind the tv on the wall. Is this necessary and why? If so, who at Sky do I need to speak with? Thanks for any help.

No, you don't need to speak to Sky.

However, burying cables and devices have obvious risks if something goes wrong...

The Q box needs good ventilation to prevent overheating.

If you mount the Sk Q box on the back of a TV both giving off heat at least 1 or more will likely to overheat and fail.

Are you sure you want to risk this?

Q hardware is loaned to users, so that's a factor.

It's also a decade-old platform which is likely to go out of use sometime in the next few years.

Obviously it's really important to test everything before sealing up, including UHD and remote control functions.

Having a way to access the power supply connector is a good idea.

Make sure the 'media wall' is accessible. Don't use it as a place to keep a load of A/V units out of sight without thinking about proper access, ventilation (they will get hot) and also cabling length and quality.

Sky Q is nearing end of life as others have pointed out. If you're already streaming content from other sources, make sure the media wall has suitable access to your broadband connection, be it via WiFi (not recommended if closed off) or ethernet.

Make sure all HDMI cables are of sufficient speed and quality to cover the distance between the media wall and your TV. You may need to look at more expensive optical or active HDMI cabling if it has to cover longer distances and you want to be able to pass full 4K HDR video and audio.

The sky Q box will be moving less than 3 feet and within 4 feet of the router. So, I am hoping this is ok.

If it's Sky Q then the satellite connection cables will be more important than the connection to the router.

Just make sure the box is well ventilated more than anything. If Q boxes get too hot, they fail.
