My main Sky Q box keeps overheating and breaking the signal on the mini sky q devices in the house. This happens everyday. I have had a new Sky q box but it made no difference. The main box is at the front of the TV with ventilation. Sky have not rectified the problem.
Sky Q boxes are designed to get quite warm. You should be able to rest the palm of your hand down on the top of the box. If you can't you perhaps need to disconnect it for safety reasons and contact Sky.
