Channel 117 poor quality picture

I have a problem with the quality of the picture on Channel 117 - London TV here in the London area. It is worse when showing the news on the channel but seems to improve slightly when Legend is broadcast. 117 appears to be an SD channel. The picture pixellates and often disappears completely. Sound comes and goes.

All other channels are fine and the quality and strength of the satellite signal are reported as good.

Is this likely to be a problem with the broadcast quality of London TV?

London TV is broadcast with a low bitrate so it will never look very good. However, if you're getting break up and complete picture loss, that sounds like a problem with the signal on the transponder that carries London TV. It is mostly home to international/religious services so you might not notice unless you watch such channels, God Channel (580) is one of them, check if that is affected next time you have signal problems with London TV.

I don't have it normally but just tuned manually

Yes the channel would seem to be having problems

I have looked at a few channels on the same transponder & they are all OK which would indicate it is a problem at source

I haven't watched any of the religious channels but will check to see if they have similar issues.

London TV is not one the regular channels I watch but it is good to know it's unlikley to be an issue at my end.

No, the Channel is getting Worse and Worse, since the Name Change.
The Time Share with the FreeTV Stations "True Crime" make things even more worse.

Few days ago it was so bad, i also thought i have some Problems with my Satellite equipment..

I don't think this was ever fixed - or if it was it has been going on for the past month again.

Other channels on the same transponder are all 100% fine.

It is only London TV with the issue.

London TV on Freely TV is fine.

I rarely ever watched London TV before reporting this here but have stopped completely. Sounds like it is still a problem with no owner.

Can youn still the the issue if you check?

After from a very few programmes and news - there isn't actually anything to watch that is not from elsewhere.

Just checked. Currently showing a True Crime Extra channel and the picture is still poor - occasional pixellation.

I know most of the channels I currently watch are in HD and it will be a subjective view but Channel 117 looks like a poor version of an SD channel.

Received a reply from Viewer Relations....

"Thank you for your email to Sky regarding the London TV channel.

I am sorry to read that you are having some issues with this Free to Air channel.

While available on the Sky Platform, Sky does not own or operate the London TV channel.

Sky are unable to recreate the issue you describe. This would indicate the issue is not with the channel itself.

If you are continuing to experience this issue, please contact our TV Technical team (number removed) for one to one support.

Thanks again for taking the time to contact Sky."

So it looks like it's a problem at my end....😳

I had to remove the Technical Support number from the copy of the reply as it was raised as an error by the forum system.

No it is not on your side. the Channel send with that low Bithare it is a wonder that is Still produce a picture, and Free to, Air? It is Encrypted even when it no need a Sub.

Further reply from Viewer Relations.

"Thank you for your further e-mail and apologies for the previous response.

Their is some issues with the channel. Its not on our side and has been confirmed that the issue is with the broadcaster.

We are working with them to have this resolved however we are not able to provide any timescale.

Once again thank you for getting in touch and sharing your feedback."
