Sound quality on HBO max is absolutely shocking, not only it will only output in stereo, but even so the sampling must be very low as it sounds like it was recorded from a cinema.
Terrible from sky, releasing an app that is not fully functional, but charging for it is ok I guess.

The app & content are from HBO Max, although it is on the SKY Q platform & you are only being charged if you have upgraded from the Base with ads tier.

We have raised the issue of the SKY Q app only being 2.0 sound but even with the free subscription to the with Ads tier you can use the HBO app on other devices which may provide 5.1 /Atmos sound - personally I use my Firestick or TV for all my apps

The HBO Max app has been around since 2020: its launch in the UK was delayed until now by the previous long-term contract between HBO (under different ownership) and Sky Atlantic (before the Comcast takeover)

Functionality is an Warner Bros Discovery Ltd problem: HBO Max is not a Sky product and the subscription goes to WBD.
