Sky Sports channel changing suddenly

On Sky Q box, only when watching Sky Sports, the channel changes suddenly to another Sky Sports channel. Have tried taking out the plug of the Q box and waiting 5 (or more) minutes then plugging in again - no difference. This only happens on Sky Sports.

Hi @RMc4 I would rule out a problem with the remote by taking out the batteries.

I've tried taking out the remote batteries and the channel didn't change while I watched for half an hour. Not sure if that is progress, but I've ordered a new remote from sky. I'll let you know if that solves it, but what I don't understand is , why does it only happen on sky sports channel.

Likewise. It happens just on SkySports channels. Granted its only happened 3 or 4 times but it's a bit off putting all the same

What Sky Sports channel were you watching when this happened?
What channel does it change it to?
Is it during the match, or adverts?
Have you experienced this on any other channel?
How far into the match were you, when it happens?

Thank you Space Sparkie for joining the discussion. My answers to your queries are:

Watching Sky Sports 405 or 406 when it happens.
Changes to 401.
Changes during the match, not the adverts.
Not experienced it on any other Sky channel.
It varies how far it is into the match when it changes, sometimes a couple of minutes, sometimes much longer.

I do hope this can be resolved.

we are having the same problem and only on Sky sports. When we switched on 401 and then change to 403 it bounces back to 401. It also switches if we changed from 403 to 401 it will bounce back to 403. This happens very regularly and it is so annoying. We have Sky Q. Can be as soon as we change the channel or within 5 minutes. Can be anytime in the ad break or in the middle of a match.

We are having the same problem. Watching Chanel 403 and it switched back to 402. This was the last Chanel selected but only for a few seconds.

I spoke with Sky technical support this evening and a lovely agent went through some settings with us and made some adjustments. While we were on the phone and for at least an hour afterwards it did not happen at all. Then it decided to flip again. So it went from 404 we changed to 403 then the TV went back to 404 itself again. My apologies I thought this happened during the ads but my partner tells me it is usually happening when there is a programme on not during the ads. I believe the lady we spoke with in Tech support was going to investigate this further and raise it. Hoping for a quick resolution.

I got quite optimistic yesterday when watching Sky Sports for ages and the channel didn't change. I thought that Space Sparkie has had solved it. But then it flipped channel.

I do hope we can get a resolution for this problem.

I did get a new remote from Sky but hoped I wouldn't have to go through all the faff of pairing it with my TV and sound system. So I'm holding off doing that in the expectation that Sky can fix this.

Has anyone else's channel changing been fixed?

A number of us have registered this problem on the community conversation. The notification says it has been answered, but it hasn't. My sports channels are still changing unexpectedly and I'm getting a little fed up with the lack of action from Sky.

This is also happening on my sky sports channels which is irritating to say the least. I've done the usual powering down and changing batteries with no improvement.
Some help please at nearly £100/month for Sky !!!

We had a new problem the other night on sports 401- the screen went blue and it had a rebooting dialogue in the centre of the screen. After a few mins the rebooting dialogue disappeared but the blue screen stayed for a further couple of mins. Then It just came back to normal. It is still changing from one channel to another on the sports channels. Just as I type it changed again from 406 to 403.
We have a big price increase coming up next month I would have hoped for some updated from Sky on this annoying problem.
