Will SKY Q work with only an internet connection, no Dish

Will Sky Q work using only an internet connection ,I don't need or want live TV channels.

If not WHY cant sky use the internet connecto to verify subscription, they may be loosing a very long time customer.

Thanks, They will loose me as a customer then, been with sky for 27+ years, but if I can't use the streaming without having Live TV they have lost me.

@Rob396 Sky Q can't get live TV via the Internet but Sky stream can, so you may want to look at that as an option.

If you just want Sky though internet why not change to Sky stream or now tv , these provide the service entirely though broadband connection. Yes it will still give you the live channels but will also give you all the demand service you want

'Q without a dish' was actually developed and announced as a product many years old but never got released in the UK because it was overtaken by the three-way bidding war for Sky Group ownership.

Sky Glass and Sky Stream, which are essentially Comcast Corporation platforms, are the online-only Sky products.

Satellite television broadcasting to the UK and RoI will almost certainly cease within the next five years.

Incidentally, using an online-only Sky platform does not by itself remove the requirement for a TV Licence.

As well as the suggestions that Stream is online only, no dish, Stream still includes a subscription to the live channels. If you really don't want the live channels then a FireStick, Roku, or Apple 4K TV may be what you are better off with.

As said, any use of live channels of any sort requires a TV Licence, and that includes live channels within apps, e.g. ITV channels within ITVX and also so called FAST channels carried on the likes of the FireStick. It is also required for any use of the iPlayer, live or not. It also includes the likes of the football last night on Prime and the boxing on Netflix.
